Let us tell you how it all started way back when:
For those of you who have never visited the Houston Metropolitan area, simply stated, it is huge. North Houston VW Club was formed in 1987 by a group of VW enthusiasts who wanted a club closer to home, and should I say, on the north side of town. The first meetings were held at Denny's on FM 1960 West, then moved to Fuddruckers on 1960 West, and finally moving to our current meeting place, Murphy's Deli where we still meet on the first Tuesday of each month at 7:30 p.m.
One of the early highlights of the club according to original members Kathy and Gil, were the club cruises to Austin with a line up of 25 to 30 VW's.
The North Houston VW club sponsored Bug Splash held at Splashtown water park for 12 or 13 years before starting a new tradition in 2000 called the Volks at the Village held each August, now moved to October at Trader's Village in NW Houston. By all means, bug out and attend our show next year!
